Artpost participated in the Spring Art Walk by hosting a one-day-only wearable art sale by four local designers. Artists exhibiting include:

• Kimberly Andert: clothing that has been deconstructed, and reconstructed into entirely new garments; shoes that have been painted and embellished in fanciful ways.
• Margaret Bryant: unique, limited edition clothing and purses incorporating vintage and up-cycled materials.
• Emery Deridder (reFind Rebel): clothing and accessories made from re-purposed, re-cycled and re-found goods.
• Jay Ganger (His maJAYsty for Royal Creations): original crochet, African influenced pieces, evening wear and casual attire.

Kimberly Andert

Kimberly is a textile artist from South Bend, specializing in wearable art, both functional and conceptual. Her work combines old world elegance in style, with modern fabrics, technology and fine sewing techniques. Each piece begins with a basic structure, and then becomes a canvas for hyper-embellishment, building layers of laces, trims, fabrics, beads and findings. Her award winning garments have been seen in runway shows worldwide, and she is a regular contributor to wearable art publications.

Margaret Bryant

Margaret is an independent designer from Niles Michigan. With over thirty years experience, she paints, tears, slashes, embellishes, scrunches, quilts, sculpts and manipulates materials until she arrive at the desired results. Her pieces are not just clothing, they have been referred to as soft sculptures and are timeless works of art. Her designs have been sold and exhibited at the Box Factory and the Krasl Art Center in St Joseph, MI; Glance, Inspire Me, Noell’s. Circa Arts, and SBRMA in South Bend; Sycamore Fine Arts and Goshen College in Goshen.

Emery DeRidder

Emery is a young designer from Michiana whose collection, titled reFind Rebel, was inspired by her personal search for identity and a way to live luxuriously yet sustainably. All of her items are born from re-purposed, re-cycled and re-found goods and are one of a kind pieces of art.

Jay Ganger

Jay designs under the label His maJAYsty for Royal Creations. His one-of-a-kind crocheted and African-inspired garments are intended to enhance the body and accentuate the positive. Jay also works as an instructor and consultant, and has produced fashion shows at venues throughout the Midwest, including South Bend, Chicago, Fort Wayne, Kalamazoo.

Eleven downtown South Bend galleries will open their doors for this year’s Spring Art Walk, which takes place from 11 am to 5 pm Saturday May 1st. Other galleries participating are Colfax Campus Gallery, New Galleries on LWW, Monroe St. Studios, South Bend Museum of Art, Fire Arts, Inc., Piser Designs, CircaArts Gallery, Junk Evolution/Carpenter Gothic, Concrete Haus, and Max Black Fine Art.

Artpost is pleased to present a very special Valentine’s Eve concert by singer/songwriter Judy Berg.

Judy is well known as the resident ‘Folk Diva’ of the Michiana area. She will be playing her original compositions, as well as interpretive covers in an intimate and art-filled gallery space. There is a $5 admission at the door, and light refreshments will be provided.

Friday, February 5th, from 5-9 pm

Artpost celebrates Black History Month with an evening of jazz with DJ Mr. Bill during February’s First Friday. Listen to some of the best Jazz pieces ever recorded, bring your own favorite CDs to share, and celebrate an original American art form.

Admission is free.

Some artists in our current exhibit, Low Fidelity: Plastic and Pinhole Work by Seven Regional Photographers, will be there, so stop by and say hello.

Warm sounds for a cold day.

Folk, Americana, acoustic alternative and a spicing of holiday cheer from Return to Normal, live at ArtPost.

With over 25 years performing together, Return to Normal members Corinne and Marty Lucas draw from an extensive repertoire reflecting their mutual interest in song-craft across the boundaries of time and style. While their current music is a quiet acoustic American folk, their approach is rooted in jazz harmonics and rock sensibilities. They enjoy observing an audience and tailoring their song selection to capture the right feeling for the moment.

Most recently, the duo co-wrote two songs in Beth Roose’s Animated Film “Elf Sparkle Meets Christmas the Horse” scheduled to run this holiday season on Nickelodeon. The film premiere is scheduled for November 21 at the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland Ky.

Stop by to hear some great music and buy some regional art and fine crafts!

Friday, December 4^th, 5-9pm

We will celebrating First Friday in December by hosting a wine tasting with the D’Avella Family Winery. On display are our two current exhibits: Joe Casey: Joe’s World, and Family Heirlooms: Art by the Westhues family.

Since the early 1900’s, John D’Avella’s family has been making wine for family and friends. This past May, John opened the first licensed farm winery in St. Joseph County, located in Granger. The D’Avella Family Winery specializes in full-bodied Italian table and fruit wines. Wine will be available for purchase; we will also have handcrafted wine coolers for sale from Walt Schmidt, one of our exhibiting artists.
